@Rob BongI was wondering who, or what, was your inspiration for this album - and maybe individual tracks? Also, around this time I also enjoyed (and still do) Prana, Eat Static and Leftfield. Do you have any other recommendation?
Nice - thanks man. I was listening to it again today, and have always been amazed at how different each track is, and with such a combination of so many original sounds. Well, your hard work paid off!
I think the biggest influence on making the album was experiencing music at different clubs, free parties & festivals. I seem to remember discussing with Dan that we wanted to make music that could be played anywhere, be it on a massive sound system with 1000s of people or at home by yourself. Either way we wanted people to lose themselves in it and go on a journey as we had done ourselves with other music. Music that influenced us at the time were bands like the Orb, Aphex twin, Pink Floyd, King Tubby, Dub Syndicate, Eat Static, Augustus Pablo, Tangerine Dream, Steve Hillage/System 7, Brian Eno, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ravi Shankar, Funkadelic, Sly & the Family Stone, the Prodigy, Jimi Hendrix..... off the top of my head but literally any music we heard would be devoured! Nearly all of the tracks were inspired by sounds we had made with synths or sampled and manipulated and built the tracks around that. We probably spent days playing around with a noise and experimenting with the limited equipment we had before writing a track with it! Fun times!! 🤪 R.x
